Volume of foreign trade cargo handled in Finnish ports up 1.6% to 23.6 mln t in Q1 08
In January-March, 2008, the volume of export-import cargo handled in the ports of Finland grew by 1.6%, year-on-year, to 23.6 million tonnes, Finnish Port Association reports.
The leader in this sector is the oil product port Skoldvik which handled 4.17 million tonnes (+6.5%, year-on-year). Transshipment of import cargo fell by 3.0%, year-on-year, to 2.66 million tonnes, while export grew by 28.7%, year-on-year, to 1.5 million tonnes.
The second one is the port of Helsinki which decreased its throughput by 8.4%, year-on-year, to 3.1 million tonnes. Transshipment of import cargo fell by 6% to 1.67 million tonnes, export - fell by 11.1% to 1.43 million tonnes.
The port of Kotka increased transshipment of export-import cargo by 8.5% to 2.68 million tonnes. Transshipment of import cargo was up 26.8% to 1.2 million tonnes, export – down 2.8% to1.48 million tonnes.
