Kazakh ban on oil products export to last until September
The Interfax news agency has reported a senior Kazakh official as saying his government's ban on the export of oil products will last until Sept. 1.
Interfax reported that Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sauat Mynbayev told reporters Tuesday the ban would be introduced to bring consumer prices for diesel fuel and gasoline under control.
Interfax said Mynbayev could not provide the date on which the ban would take effect.
Prime Minister Karim Masimov revealed plans for the ban at a government meeting Monday.
Kazakhstan has huge oil and gas resources, but soaring costs for fuel are having a knock-on effect on the country's agricultural sector and consumer prices.
