Neustrashimy patrol ship returns to Baltiysk from Gulf of Aden

The Neustrashimy patrol ship of the Russian Baltic Fleet returned to the Baltiysk naval base from the Gulf of Aden on Sunday, Itar-Tass reports.

The ship had been providing security of Russian and foreign commercial vessels off the Horn of Africa for more than four months. The area is notorious for pirate assaults.

“We are proud of our sailors: the voyage supervisors, the crew, the marines, the anti-terrorist team and the pilots based onboard the Neustrashimy,” Baltic Fleet commander Vice-Admiral Viktor Mardukhin told Itar-Tass. “It is always hard to be a pioneer, and the Neustrashimy has successfully accomplished its mission. Another ship, which represents the Pacific Fleet, is performing a similar mission now.”
