Throughput of Yuzhny port (Ukraine) down 14.5% to 1.4 mln t in Jan 09

In January 2009, throughput of Yuzhny port (Ukraine) totaled 1.471.1 million tonnes (-14.5%, year-on-year), the company informs. In the reported period, the port’s cargo handling amounted to 1.091.4 million tonnes (+3.9% against plan).

Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port provides all-the-year-round navigation. The port’s approach channel is 2 miles long and 14.5 meters deep. The port’s outer anchorage can accommodate 24 vessels. The berthing line of the port is 2.6 kilometers long, the depth at the berth ranges within 12.5-15 meters. The port’s open storage space is 145,000 square meters.
