Cargo handling of Ukraine’s sea and river ports up 4.4% to 184.2 mln t in 2008 In 2008, all Ukraine’s sea and river ports and berths of all property categories handled 184.2 million tonnes of cargo (+4.4%, year-on-year), State Statistics Committee of Ukraine reports according to transport business portal. Export traffic grew by 17.9%, import – by 14.8%. Transit fell by 4.7%, coastal trade – by 17.6%. Ukrainean seaports handled 169.6 million tonnes of cargo (+7.5%) including 76.3 million tonnes of export cargo (+19.5%) and 66.3 million tonnes of transit cargo (-4.7%). River ports decreased cargo handling by 21.7% to 14.5 million tonnes.
