Dampskibsselskabet Norden A/S reports its best year ever in 2008, the net profit was USD 707.8 million after the revenue was almost doubled from 2007. The net revenue in 2008 was USD 4.2 billion, compared to USD 2.9 billion in 2007. In 2008 the dry cargo division generated a USD 455 million profit, down nine per cent. The tanker division profit grew 26 per cent to USD 67 million. Furthermore D/S Norden reports a USD 290 million profit from sale of vessels.
D/S Norden expects a much weaker result in 2009 due to the uncertainties in the global market. The figures will be between USD 100 to 340 million. D/S Norden is prepared for the present market with a large amount of cash and a bulk fleet with no mortgages.
