Under the state project on construction of facilities at port Sabetta (Yamal) general contractor USK MOST OJSC has commenced dredging works at the site of preliminary period, says press center of Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency).
The work is being implemented by cutter-suction dredgers and suction hopper dredgers. Some 260,000 m3 of soil have been removed already.
All in all, some 8-10 mln m3 of soil is supposed to be removed in navigation of 2013, thus completing the facilities of the preliminary period. This will enable to put into operation the berths of Yamal LNG OJSC in navigation of 2014. Construction cargoes are to be handled there.
The port is being built within the framework of Yamal LNG project.
Yamal LNG project envisages the construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per annum based on the feedstock resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field. According to the PRMS reserve standards, the proven and probable reserves of the South-Tambeyskoye field as of 31 December 2012 were appraised at 907 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The Project also requires the construction of transport infrastructure including a sea-port and an airport located at Sabetta (north-east of the Yamal Peninsula). Yamal LNG is currently owned by NOVATEK (80%) and TOTAL (20%).
