RF Transport Ministry expects 192.5 mln t growth of Russian ports’ capacity by 2018
The plan of the activities of RF Transport Ministry in 2013-2018 is based on the expected growth of Russian ports’ capacity by 262 mln t. However, with the updated plans of private investors the forecast is proposed to be lowered to 192.5 mln t, IAA PortNews journalist refers to Oleg Belozerov, Deputy Transport Minister of Russia, as saying at the meeting of the Ministry’s Social Council held on February 25, 2014.
According to official, major problems are associated with the lack of specialized terminals for servicing of large capacity vessels.
Meanwhile, the growth of the ports’ capacity during the entire period of the federal special-purpose programme “Development of Russia’s Transport System (2010-2020)” is not to be updated and to make 454 mln t.
