On March 14, Baltic shipyard Yantar (United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the first vessel in the series being built for RF Navy, press center of USC says.
Under two contracts signed with the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, Yantar shipyard will build six patrol ships (frigates) of project 11356 developed by Severnoye Design Bureau OJSC. The Admiral Grigorovich was laid down on December 18, 2010, the Admiral Essen – on July 8, 2011, the Admiral Makarov – on February 29, 2012, the Admiral Butakov – on July – 12, 2013, the Admiral Istomin – on November 15, 2013.
The construction of the series is to be completed in 2016. All the vessels are to join the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
