Rosneft needs about 300 support vessels for the development of the license areas in the Kara Sea, IAA PortNews journalist cites Andrey Shishkin, Vice-President of Rosneft, as saying at the Adam Smith Conference “Russian Arctic Oil and Gas” in Moscow.
According to him, the offshore development will generally require “an absolutely different approach and an attitude of the state other than it used to practice before”.
Among the challenges of the Arctic projects, Andrey Shishkin emphasized the complicated logistics, environmental safety issues and the necessity to manufacture equipment with a higher duty as compared with those used for the Sakhalin projects.
Rosneft representative also underlined that such projects are considered to be profitable in the current situation.
