An investment agreement on construction of a coal terminal and a railway line on the western coast of the Kola Bay (Murmansk Region) under the project on comprehensive development of Murmansk Transportation Hub was signed on April 21, 2014. As IAA PortNews was informed at the Ministry of Transport the ceremony of signing was attended by Aleksey Tsydenov, Deputy Minister of Transport, and Didier Casimiro, Vice-President Commerce and Logistics at Rosneft.
The document was signed by Murmansk Region Governor Marina Kovtun, Director General of Commercial Seaport Lavna Aleksandr Aliyev and First Deputy to Director General of Rostransmodernizatsiya Dmitry Karlik.
Under the agreement, Murmansk Region Government and Rostransmodernizatsiya as the state customer, as well as the private investor Commercial Seaport Lavna, have revised the list and terms of the activities and the volume of investments into the project having confirmed their interest in the project implementation.
Murmansk Transportation Hub is the largest hub of Russia’s northern coast and Murmansk is the northernmost ice free port of Russia. The project on comprehensive development of Murmansk Transportation Hub complies with the target to develop the Arctic area of the Russian Federation. Its implementation will let use the maximum of transit and resource potential of the region and adjacent marine area.
