On June 17, cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse (flag of Malta) moored at the Port of Klaipeda. According to the port authorities, the port has handled vessels of this size before.
The length of Celebrity Eclipse is 317 m, depth - 61 m. The ship can accommodate 4,400 passengers
Earlier, other large cruise ships visited the Port of Klaipeda: 294-meter Constellation and 290-meter Costa Pacifica.
The ship came to Klaipeda from Saint-Petersburg.
A delegation headed by Algirdas Butkevičius, Prime Minister of Lithuania, visited the cruise ship.
State-run Port of Klaipeda, the northernmost ice-free port on the East coast of the Baltic Sea, is the largest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea and inland traffic lanes. There are 17 stevedore companies, shipyards and other operators at the port, providing a broad range of services. In 2013, total throughput of Port of Klaipeda and Butingės terminal was 33,42 million tonnes.
