Primorsk Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky visited Vostochny Port OJSC during his working visit to Nakhodka city district, the Company told IAA PortNews.

As of today, it is the largest coal port in the country. It handles 20 pct of total throughput in Russia.

Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of the Company, told the region’s Governor about the implementation of the project on construction of the port’s third phase.

“The project is estimated at RUB 13.5 bln, half of the works has been completed already. We have signed an agreement with the Japanese company for equipment supply. The port’s throughput makes 18 mln t today with the third phase to let it double,” he said.

Vostochny Port OJSC commenced implementation of the project in October 2012.

Under the project, 17.2-hectare plot of land was created in the Vrangel Bay. Vostochny Port OJSC is one of the first Russian companies to obtain a permit for land reclamation at a water body under federal law FL-246.

By today, vertical leveling, land reclamation and bank protection works have been completed. Basic facilities are under construction now (coal storage facilities with cleaning plants) as well as service/transport/communication facilities, power/water/sewage/heating supply facilities. Besides, landscaping and site finishing is in process.

“My approach is the following: the Nature in our region is unique and we should preserve it. All the projects will undergo the keenest environmental expertise,” the Governor said.

It should be noted that the project on construction of the third phase of the Coal Complex of Vostochny Port OJSC had been approved by all necessary state structures including Glavgosexpertiza as a project complying with all norms and standards of environmental laws.

According to the forecast of the expert council, with third phase of the Coal Complex fully operational, Vostochny Port OJSC will be able to handle 39 mln t of coal by 2020.

Vostochny Port OJSC embarks on the construction of the coal terminal’s third phase. When completed, it will number up to 2,000 employees. The Company has already launched a number of programmes for social support of its personnel – starting from arrangement of holidays for children and up to housing credits. Managing Port Company LLC is the sole executive body of Vostochny Port OJSC.
