    Drydocks World to participate in the SMM 2014 Maritime Industry Exhibition in Hamburg

    Drydocks World, the leading provider of maritime and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas, and energy sectors, will participate in the prestigious 26th edition of Shipbuilding, Machinery, and Marine Technology (SMM) Exhibition, from September 9-12, 2014. Taking place in the strategic shipping hub of Hamburg, Germany, Drydocks World will attend SMM 2014 with representatives from Maritime World, Dubai Chamber and Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries, the company said in its press release.

    As the world’s largest international maritime trade fair, SMM 2014 will showcase all aspects of maritime innovation and technology. Its role as a communication & networking platform is pivotal to cultivating connections between global maritime industry leaders. With more than 50,000 international trade visitors and over 2,000 exhibitors from 62 different countries, the biggest names in the maritime industry will participate, providing a vital opportunity for companies to showcase their capabilities & achievements and gain new business networks. In addition to the maritime advances presented at SMM 2014, companies have the opportunity to leverage contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, creating enormous growth potential for participants.

    In the past several years Drydocks World relations with Germany and the EU have been very strong with 39% of vessels serviced at Drydocks World-Dubai belonging to European customers of which 18% represent clients from Germany. Drydocks World has long-term agreements with several European customers, such as AP Moller Maersk, BP Shipping, Euronav Ship Management, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Group, and NSC Schiffarhrtsgesellschaft mbH & Cie.

    Business pertaining to NB from clients based in Germany and the EU amounted to approximately US$250million, with business in NB from such clients over the next five years likely to exceed US$1.7billion, while that from conversions is projected to be in the US$100million range. Further, Drydocks World maintains strategic alliances with several European companies such as ABB, Shell, TenneT, SBM Offshore, Aibel, & Wartsila & license agreements with MAN, and GTT France.

    In order to further these positive relations with Europe, Drydocks World will participate in SMM 2014 as part of a trade mission with Dubai Chamber of Commerce, together enhancing the image of Dubai as a maritime hub. This joint participation will exemplify the progressive spirit of Dubai, as it looks toward to the pioneering development, unprecedented innovation, and sustainable vision towards 2020 and beyond.
    In addition to the Drydocks World and Maritime World presence at the Dubai Chamber stand, Drydocks World will have its own stand which will showcase the two Modular Capture Vessels, Eagle Louisiana and Eagle Texas, the Polarcus seismic vessels, the HVDC converter platform Dolwin Beta, the first LNG powered habor tug ‘Elemarateyah’, and the Turret Mooring System for the FLNG Prelude. These innovative projects will demonstrate Drydocks World stringent quality and safety standards, commitment to Operational Excellence, and advanced engineering capabilities to a global audience.

    As an engaging and informative speaker, having previously addressed numerous international delegations and events, His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World will give a keynote speech on “Dubai’s vision for a competitive maritime sector,” and will participate in a panel discussion on “The importance of maritime education and training in Dubai and Hamburg.” His Excellency will also give insight on “Repair and Service projects” during the SMM panel on “Installation, Operation & Service.”
