CJSC PORT FLEET owned tugs "Leonid Bochkov" and "Peterhof" yesterday, September 21 successfully delivered the cruiser "Aurora" from the Petrovskaya Embankment of St. Petersburg to the harbour of Kronstadt Ship Repair Plant (Navy Plant) where the vessel will undergo overhaul, the tugs fleet operator said Monday.
The two tugs "Leonid Bochkov" and "Peterhof" feature the state-of-the-art and effective propulsion system, including Aquamaster nozzles that enable this class tugs to pivot 360 degrees, to perform towing/canting operations and to swiftly change its mode of operation from pulling to pushing.
St. Petersburg-based Severnaya Verf Shipyard was contracted to perform repair, renovation works. Severnoye PKB (Northern Design Bureau) will develop and provide the overhaul project.
The Pallada-class 1st rank cruiser "Aurora" was laid down in September 1896 and launched in May 1900. The cruiser's length overall is 126.8 meters, beam - 16.8 meters, draft - 6.4 m. At the time her maximum speed was 19.2 knot, cruising range - about 4,000 nm. When the ship entered service with the Russian Empire Navy her armaments included eight 152 mm (6-inch) guns, 24 x 75 mm guns, eight 37 mm guns and two 63.5 mm guns. In addition, the cruiser had three 381 mm torpedo tubes.
