Annual consumption of LNG as bunker fuel in Europe is expected to reach 4 mln t by 2030, IAA PortNews journalist cites Igor Mainitsky, head of LNG Export Department of Gazprom Export LLC, as saying at the International Conference “Impact of Shipping on Air in Europe”.
“The price of LNG and conventional fuels will be the main factor to determine the growth rates of LNG bunkering segment,” Igor Mainitsky said.
Besides, LNG demand will be determined by toughening of emission regulations, expansion of their footprint, availability of LNG and related infrastructure, intensity of ship traffic as well as cost of sulphur filters and NOx absorbers, he emphasized.
The Conference held in Saint-Petersburg on October 1, 2014, had been organized by Media Group PortNews.
