In 2015, LUKOIL is going to offer up to 500,000 t of ecological marine fuel with sulphur content not exceeding 0.1%, IAA PortNews cites LUKOIL representative Roman Kovalchuk as saying at the First International Forum “Marine Fuels and Lubes’ 2014” in Moscow. According to him, with the demand for this product LUKOIL will have an opportunity to boost annual production to 1 mln t in 2015 and to 2 mln t in 2016, and so on. The product pricing will be determined by the demand with the start of sales. The fuel will be produced by LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez.
Earlier LUKOIL announced the launch of new ecological marine fuel with sulphur content of 0.095%. The product’s flow temperature will be decreased from the current 20 Celsius degrees to 0 Celsius degrees. The fuel density under 15 Celsius degrees will not exceed 910.0 kg per cbm.
Restrictions on sulphur content in ship fuel coming into effect in the Baltic and North Seas from January 1, 2015 set a limit of 0.1%. Distillate fuel, liquefied gas and scrubbers are considered as possible solutions.
