Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is getting ready to dispatch the second ship loaded with 2,610 t of plate glass produced by Caspian plant to Istanbul (Turkey), the port’s press center says.
Shipments of plate glass from the port are to reach 16,000 t by the end of the year.
The first batch of plate glass (1,080 t) was transported by sea in August 2014.
FSUE Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is located at the western coast of the Caspian Sea, in Dagestan Republic. This port with round the year navigation handles crude, oil products, breakstone, gravel, grain, general and timber cargo. It is crossed by the routes from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Baltics and it also handles transit cargoes going to/from Iran, Turkey and Central Asia. The port is serviced by the railway station Makhachkala (Makhachkala branch of North-Caucasus Railway). In 2012, the company handled 2.8 mln t of cargo including 5.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo.
