A checkpoint on the State Border of the Russian Federation has been opened at port Sabetta (Yamal-Nenets autonomous region). According to the press center of Rosmorport FSUE, the checkpoint’s limits were approved by the Order No 194-OD signed on September 8, 2014.
The checkpoint has been established in the port according to the Decree of RF Government dated 26.11.2013 (No 2203-r).
Seaport Sabetta was earlier opened for foreign vessels by the Governmental Decree dated 04.07.2013 (No 1128-r).
Port Sabetta is projected to be a hub for shipment of liquefied natural gas eastwards and westwards by large capacity gas carriers through the Northern Sea Route. The construction is being carried out in the framework of the Yamal LNG project which envisages the construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per annum based on the feedstock resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field.
