Federal financing of Russia’s inland water ways to be raised to RUB 20 bln by 2018, Transport Minister says
Annual allocations of the federal budget for maintenance of inland water ways of Russia will be increased by RUB 6.7 bln to almost RUB 20 bln by 2018, IAA PortNews journalist cites RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov as saying at the collegium of the Ministry.
First of all these resources will be spent for maintenance of inland water ways with guaranteed dimensions of navigable channels.
According to Maxim Sokolov, this has become possible with the entry into force of a Decree (dated 02.12.2014 No 1295) on approval of normative standards for annual expenses for the maintenance of inland water ways and navigational hydraulic structures.
The Minister noted that “underfunding has resulted in reduction of the total length of inland water ways with guaranteed dimensions of navigable channels by almost 30% to less than 50,000 km which makes only 50% of the total length of inland water ways in Russia”.
