In 2014, North-Western Shipping Company has boosted transportation of grain destined for further transshipment to sea going vessels (lighterage) to 876,000 t (up 46%, year-on-year).
Total transportation of grain destined for lighterage by the Company’s own fleet has grown 1.4 times to 646,000 t. 230,000 t of grain was carried by the vessels of Volga Shipping Company chartered under the contracts with NWSC.
All lighterage operations have been carried out in seaports of the Azov - Black Sea Basin.
According to the forecasts, transportation of grain destined for lighterage will exceed over 50% of all export-import grain carried by North-Western Shipping Company between foreign ports.
In 2015, the company is going to increase transportation of grain destined for lighterage due to involvement of sea and river going vessels.
North-Western Shipping Company is the largest carrier in Russia’s water transport system, specializing in shipping import / export general cargo, bulk and loose dry cargo, tugging of oversized cargo and vessels. The company operates 55 sea-and-river-going cargo ships, 10 sea-going vessels and 3 ro-ro barges with total deadweight of 300,000 tonnes.
