The Russian State Duma on April 21 2015 adopted in the second and third reading a bill regulating fishing in the high seas (№ 600511-6, «On Amendments to the Laws of the Russian Federation on the fisheries in the high seas"), the Federal Agency for Fishery said.
The bill amends the number of federal laws regarding the regulation of fisheries in the high seas, carried out by business entities using ships flying the national flag of the Russian Federation.
In particular, it introduces amendments to the Code of Administrative offenses relating to the establishment of responsibility for violation of the rules of high seas fishing.
The bill regulating fishing in the high seas was developed and submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian government. On November 11, 2014 the bill was introduced into the State Duma by Deputy Agriculture Minister, head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Ilya Shestakov. As a result, the bill was passed in the first reading.
