Zelenodolsk Plant lays down first serial border guard ship of project 22100
First serial ship of project 22100 was laid down at Tatarstan-based Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky on June 15, 2015, the shipyard told IAA PortNews.
New generation border guard ship Ocean developed by Central Marine Design Bureau Almaz (Saint-Petersburg) is the first ship of this type tailored in compliance with the requirements of the Border Guard Service under FSB.
This multipurpose ship has a high fighting capacity and can take part in full-scale rescue operations. It is a unique ship with her ice class, speed of 21 knots, cruising range of 12,000 miles and endurance of 60 days. They are supposed to replace ships of projects 1135P and 97P.
Ships of project 22100 are intended for protection of the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation. Also they will be able to participate in rescue operations, assist in fighting fires on ships and escort emergency towing vessels in hiding places, to ensure actions of special forces of the Russian FSB to combat piracy and terrorism, prevent smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
The ship is to be deployed for operation in the North West region of the Pacific Ocean, Arctic and non-Arctic freezing seas of the Russian Federation with consideration of the requirements for operation of Arc4 vessels under the Regulations of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
The ship is armed with the automatic gun and heavy machine guns. At the stern there is a helipad and helicopter hangar for Ka-27. The ship is equipped with the latest electronic systems, intelligence and surveillance.
The shipyard has already built the lead coast guard ship of project 22100 laid down on May 30, 2012, and launched on May 21, 2014. The ship named Polyarnaya Zvezda (Polar Star) is currently undergoing the manufacturer’s trials in the Baltic Sea. The delivery to the customer is scheduled for 2015.
On April 24, 2015, Tatarstan-based OJSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky helad a ceremonial signing of state contracts for construction of two serial ships of project 22100 Ocean for the Border Guard Service under FSB. Total value of the contracts exceeds RUB 17 bln.
