Center for construction of superlarge marine facilities to appear in Murmansk Region

RF Government has signed an Order (No 1129-r dated June 17, 2015) on establishment of the center for construction of superlarge marine facilities in the Murmansk Region, Aleksey Tyukavin, First Vice Governor of the Region told IAA PortNews at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to him, this Order approves the “roadmap” for creation of a shipyard capable of building LNG plants.
The project had been initiated by NOVATEK ОАО. Aleksey Tyukavin said the Murmansk Region Government is going to sign the agreement with NOVATEK on June 19, 2015. Under the agreement, NOVATEK will participate in the projects on the development of Murmansk Transport Hub and Port SEZ.

Aleksey Tyukavin also said NOVATEK is going to build three floating LNG plants. Each plant with annual capacity of 6.5 mln t is supposed to be used within the framework of LNG-2 Project (Yamal-LNG, Sabetta, opposite shore of the Ob Bay).

As Vice Governor told IAA PortNews, NOVATEK has already registered a new company – Kolskaya Verf (Kola Shipyard). It will be located on the western shore of the Kola Bay, at Belokamenka settlement.

The shipyard’s total area is 841,000 sqm. Two dry docks are to be built there: 400х185 m and 400х205 m, depth – 15.7 m. Production capacity of the facility for construction of superstructures – 120,000 t per year, for construction of gravity base structures – up to 200,000 t per year. Total investments into the project – some RUB 25 bln. The first phase is to be put into operation in the forth quarter of 2017.

Kolskaya Verf LLC (fully owned by NOVATEK  ) was set up on May 20, 2015. Director General – Victor Nekrasov. Authorized capital – RUB 2 mln.
