Ceremonial launching of the multi-functional modular vessel of Project 23370 built for the Baltic Fleet has been held today, July 28, 2015 at KAMPO shipyard (KAMPO OJSC, Svetly, Kaliningrad Region). According to the press center of the Western Military District, the boat will join the search-and-rescue detachment of the Baltic Fleet upon completion of the manufacturer’s sea trials and the state tests.
The ceremony has been attended by the representatives of the Baltic Fleet Command, KAMPO shipyard, Svetly authorities, as well as public organizations.
Boats of Project 23370 are used as a multi-functional platform, carrying specialized equipment and technical appliances. The boats, depending on the equipment installed on them, can be used as diving support, search and rescue, fire-fighting, medical vessels, as well as port security vessels and clean-up boats.
The vessel built for the search-and-rescue detachment of the Baltic Fleet is equipped as a diving boat intended for underwater engineering works. It is the fifth boat built for the Baltic Sea. Two search-and-rescue boats and a diving boat joined the Baltic Fleet’s Leningrad Naval Base last year. One more boat launched in early July is undergoing sea trials and official tests.
KAMPO OJSC (earlier known as Orekhovo-Zuevo design bureau of oxygen equipment) was set up in 1953. It is a part of TETIS Group. The company manufactures vessels for RF Navy under the state order within the framework of Naval Construction Programme through 2050.
