Throughput of Russian seaports up 2.6% to 437.4 mln t in 8M’15

In January-August 2015, Russian seaports handled 437.4 mln t of cargo (+2.6%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 195.0 mln t of cargo (+0.3%) including 79.7 mln t of coal (+2.5%), 17.7 mln t of ferrous metal (+11.3%), 10.7 mln t of cargoes carried by ferries (up 1.7 times), 10.4 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+4.8%), 4.3 mln t of ore (+5.3%), 3.5 mln t of timber (+9.5%) and 2.5 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+19.0%).  Transshipment of containerized cargo fell to 26.7 mln t (-14.7%), 17.0 mln t of grain (-2.1%) and 2.9 mln t of scrap metal (-12.8%). 

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 242.4 mln t (+4.5%) including 133.4 mln t of crude (+5.6%), 98.5 mln t of oil products (+3.7%) and 8.4 mln t of liquefied gas (+2.0%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 350.3 mln t (+4.7%, year-on-year), import - 22.3 mln t (-23.6%), transit - 32.3 mln t (-0.7%), coastal trade cargo - 32.6 mln t (+8.6%).

Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 23.4 mln t (-0.8%, year-on-year) including 16.1 mln t of dry cargo (-5.8%) and 7.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+12.3%). Port Varandei handled 4.3 mln t (+11.0%), Arkhangelsk - 2.7 mln t (+5.1%), Murmansk - 14.6 mln t (-3.8%).  

The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 151.8 mln t (+1.2%) including 57.7 mln t of dry cargo (-2.5%) and 94.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+3.6%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 57.1 mln t of cargo (+15.5%), Primorsk - 38.8 mln t (+4.0%), Big Port St. Petersburg - 34.7 mln t (-15.5%), Vysotsk - 11.7 mln t (-3.0%), Kaliningrad - 8.5 mln t (-5.4%).

Throughput of Azov - Black Sea ports climbed to 145.1 mln t (+4.3%) including 54.7 mln t of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 90.4 mln of liquid bulk cargo t (+2.7%). The port of Novorossiysk handed 84.3 mln t (+3.5%), Tuapse - 16.9 mln t (+16.0%), Taman - 7.6 mln t (+12.4%), Taganrog - 2.0 mln t (+5.2%), Temryuk - 1.7 mln t (+34.9%), Kavkaz - 14.4 mln t (-15.9%), Rostov - 6.6 mln t (-3.7%), Azov - 3.9 mln t (-9.6%), Yeisk - 2.2 mln t (-8.5%). Seaports of Crimea handed 5.5 mln t. 

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 4.7 mln t грузов (-11.5%) including 2.1 mln t of dry cargo (-3.8%) and 2.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-17.1%). The port of Makhachkala fell by 18.8% to 2.8 mln t, Olya – by 11.5%.  Throughput of port Astrakhan increased by 3.1% to 1.7 mln t. 

The ports of Far East Basin handled 112.4 mln t (+3.7%) including 64.3 mln t of dry cargo (-0.9%) and 48.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+10.5%). Port Vostochny handled 43.4 mln t (+13.7%), Vanino - 17.7 (+2.5%), De-Castri -  6.7 mln t (+29.3%), Nakhodka - 13.9 mln t (-1.9%), Prigorodnoye - 10.6 mln t (-2.4%), Vladivostok - 8.3 mln t (-20.3%), Posiet - 4.2 (-12.5%). 

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
