FAS sees signs of coordination in activities of Baltic container lines operators

Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia sees the signs of coordination in the activities of operators of container lines at Asia – Saint-Petersburg routes, IAA PortNews journalist cites Aleksei Gorlinsky, Deputy head of FAS department for transport and communications control, as saying at the 7th Inter Baltic Transport Forum in Kaliningrad.

According to him, no signs of cartel agreement are seen by FAS today. 

FAS is going to engage foreign parents of the involved operators.

The meeting on the issue has been scheduled for 2015.

The investigation of container lines operators’ activities was launched by FAS as early as in 2012 after they simultaneously increased the freight rates. Scientific research aimed at container market analyses ordered by FAS was completed in the middle of 2015. The conclusion on the signs of coordination is based on that research findings.
