Sea Star crew strike over, protesters satisfied

Odessa based MGK-Transforward, the Sea Star motor vessel owner, has completely paid out the crew $70.000 of three-month wage. The delay had triggered previously a hanger strike announced at the port of Nakhodka, where the Ukrainian fishermen were stuck unable to get bake home, Interfax agency reported citing Nikolai Sukhanov, chairman of the Far East branch of Seafarers Union.

"As of now, all the 13 crew members have been replaced by a new team. Tomorrow the people are going back to Ukraine. The owner has provided the sailors air tickets ", said Nikolai Sukhanov.

He also noted that the coal laden vessel has been berthed at a second dock. After the ship is checked it will set sail.
