Okyabrskaya Railway to boost its volumes to 4.5%, 92.6 million tons this year

Oktyabrskaya Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways projected a year-over-year 4.5% growth in freight volumes transshipment for 2010, at least to 92.6 million tons. The company’s investment program will total 39.2 billion rubles, the OR press service said. According to head of Oktyabrskaya Railway Victor Stepov, the RZD authorities will be focused the Northwest region’s projects, namely, the high-speed St. Petersburg – Moscow and St. Petersburg – Helsinki lines, the construction of Ust-Luga.Port access railroad.

The company report for 2009 had showed a y-o-y 17.1 percent drop in freight volumes via OR, nearly at 88.6 million tons.

Oktyabrskaya Railway’s operating length is 13.323.7 km. The line passes through 11 Russian Federation regions - Leningrad, Pskov, Novgorod, Vologda, Murmansk, Tver, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Republic of Karelia.
