With business affected by the international financial crisis, the local customs authorities at Rizhao successfully introduced measures to boost trade and to reduce difficulties for enterprises using the port. Meanwhile, the port's iron ore import volume also grew rapidly on the back of the Chinese government's policy of stimulating domestic demand, which had a positive impact of the domestic iron and steel industry.
