Russian ports show a 19-min. cut in rail cars delay on approach lines in 2009, year-over-year

In twelve months of 2009, Russian ports’ stevedores decreased time spent for unloading cars and, as result, cut average cars delays on approach lines to 7 hours, 19 min. less than in 2008, “Gudok” reported, citing Alexander Kazantsev, the manager of freight transportation commercial department of the Central Traffics Directorate, a branch of Russian Railways.

However, he noted, "there were a number of seaports, which had an increase in rail cars delays over the same period in 2008."

"For example, on the approach rail line in Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port cars delays in 2009 rose to 14.22 hours, 6.91 hours more then in 2008, Port Vysotsky LLC showed a 2.32-hour increase, 12.95 hours of delays", Mr. Kazantsev was quoted as saying.
