Containers export traffics through Trans-Siberian Railroad down by 56% Overall volume of outbound containers transported via the Trans-Siberian Railroad amounted to 267.620 TEUs in 2009, a 56% drop as compared to previous year’s numbers, "RZD-Partner.Ru" reports citing the Trans-Siberian traffics Coordinating Council statement.
In 2009 calendar year inbound traffics fell 65 percent, a major slump of total transportation volumes on TSR. The number of exported commodities was also down by 44%, while transit traffics dropped 38 percent. In volumes of import and export shipments on Asia Pacific Region route, the largest yea-over-year reduction, 72 percent, was reported in Russia-Korea traffics. Russia-Japan and Russia-China traffics also suffered a decline at 37% and 41% accordingly.
