Cargo turnover at the Port of Aktau up 6.8%, 1.177 million tons in January 2010

Freight traffic volumes through Aktau International Sea Port (AISP SE, Port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) in January 2010 amounted to 1.117.090 tons of dry bulk and oil, a 6.8 percent gain over the same period in 2008, the Port Authority statement said.

Total shipment volume of crude oil and petroleum products in January this year rose to 958.800 tons, transshipment of steel products – 133.700 tons, of other commodities – 8.900 tons, of grain – 54.800 tons. The volume of ferry traffic was reported at 21.700 tons. In January the port terminals handled 180 ships.

Port of Aktau is situated on the east coast of the Caspian Sea and is the only seaport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, designed for the international transportation of various dry bulks, crude oil and petroleum products. Cargo turnover in 2009 grew by 26.7%, up to 13.951.000 tons.
