Oil from damaged ESPO pipeline (Amur region) leaks into Bolshoy Never river

Oil spillage from damaged "Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline in the vicinity of the oil loading rack at Skovorodino station (Amur region) leaked into the river Bolshoy Never covering 1-km of river bed and its feeder. The slick is reportedly 60-cm thick along the coastline, regional Prosecutor’s Office said.

According to law enforcement officials, the oil was released from the pipeline breached by a digger bucket while operating near the pipeline. The volume of oil spilled and pollution area as well as the damage have not yet been reported.

As of now, teams of law enforcement agencies, the regional Prosecutor’s Office are investigating at the scene.
