Cargo volumes through Ningbo-Zhoushan Port (East China) up 9.6%, at 570 million tones in 2009

Throughput in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port (East China) totaled 570 million tons in 2009, 50 million tons more than in the previous year (+10%), while foreign-trade volume was at 240 million tons, China Knowledge reports. The statistics were provided by the Zhejiang Shipping Administration and the Ministry of Transport of China.

The announced volumes of handled cargoes by Ningbo-Zhoushan Port make it world’s top record, China Knowledge said.

According to provisional data the total freight traffics via major Chinese ports in 2009 amounted to 6.91 billion tons, a year-over-year 8.2% growth.

The final Statistical Bulletin of the Ministry of Transport of China for 2009 on the outcome of the country’s ports has not been posted as yet.
