Cargo turnover at Vanino Port up 12.7%, to 461.000 tons this January

In January this year freight traffic volumes via Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino jsc, Khabarovsk Territory) totaled 461.000 tons, a 12.7 percent growth from the same period in 2009, the stevedoring company press service reports.

The port’s terminals handled this January 222.200 tons of exported commodities, a 37.6 percent surge over the same period of last year. The exports include 110.100 tons of timber cargo, 37.400 tons of non-ferrous metals, 74.700 tons of coal. The volume of imported goods dropped 11.5 percent, to 103.000 tons, including 102.800 tons of alumina. The first month of 2010 showed a 65.5 percent rebound, 46.000 tons in coastal shipments via Vanino.

Vanino-Kholmsk ferry regular line transported this January 89.800 tons of cargoes.

Containers volumes through the Vanino port amounted to 514 TEUs. In January, Vanino handled 87 ships, including 40 ferries, and 6.096 rail cars.

Port of Vanino is the largest stevedoring company in the Khabarovsk Krai (Territory). The port handles inbound commodities for the north-eastern regions of Russia and exported goods to Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries in Asia Pacific. Last year’s throughput of the stevedoring company amounted to 6 million tons, 9.4% down from figures in 2008.
