Russian Government debates inland waterways bill today, offered by Transport Minister

Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin is presenting today, February 16th, at a meeting of the Presidium of the RF Government a federal law in draft "On Amendments in the Code of Inland Water Transport of Russia", the government press services said.

It has been reported earlier that the bill is to amend Article 41 of the Code of inland waterway transport for resolving issues related to establishing a pilot service firm in inland waterway transport.

Also, a draft law is aimed at bringing the articles 6 and 58 of the Code in accordance with the articles 4 and 6 of the Federal Law "On natural monopolies" in terms of government regulation of the services to use inland waterways and river ports infrastructure.

The bill being approved, would eliminate existing gaps in legislation on the public regulation of the services to use the infrastructure of inland waterways and ports, as well as regulate the issues of emerging pilot organizations providing services for inland waterways. The new bill does not imply additional expenditures from the federal budget.
