Ceremonial hoisting of RF Navy flag at submarine Krasnodar of Project 636.3 has been held today, November 5, at Admiralty Shipyards. According to Company’s press center, the ship joins RF Navy one month ahead of schedule.
The ceremony has been attended by RF Navy representative Victor Kochemazov and shipyard Director General Aleksandr Buzakov.
Novorossiysk, the first project 636.3 submarine, has been put into service of the Black Sea Fleet. Rostov-on-Don submarine will join the Black Sea Fleet after passing armament trials held at the Northern Fleet. The third diesel-electric submarine Stary Oskol is passing armament trials at the Northern Fleet at the moment.
According to the plan, all six submarines of project 636.3 will have been built and put into service of the Russian Navy by the end of 2016.
Submarine Krasnodar — fourth in the series being built by Admiralty Shipyards RF Navy, was laid in February of 2014. All six submarines of the series have been named after the cities holding a honorary grade “City of military glory”.
On August 22 and December 30 of 2014 two submarines – “Novorossiysk” and “Rostov-on-Don” were handed over to the composition of the Black Sea Fleet. The third submarine – “Stariy Oskol” passed the state trials. The final submarines of the series “Velikiy Novgorod” and “Kolpino” at present are in the shipbuilding ways with various degree of availability. The works are executed in strict compliance with the schedule of construction.
The submarines of upgraded project 636 have increased tactical effectiveness (in comparison with previous projects). Оptimum combination of acoustic discretion and identification range, up-dated inertial navigator, modern automated information control system, powerful quick-reaction torpedo-missile weapon provide worldwide priority of the submarines of the series in area of construction of conventional submarines. JSC “Аdmiralteiskie Verfi” is unconditional leader in construction of the submarines of the class and since 1983 the enterprise successfully delivers them for export.
Admiralty Shipyards is a key enterprise of shipbuilding, a centre of conventional submarine building of Russia. The shipyard is affiliated with United Shipbuilding Corporation. Today the shipyard takes an active part in the development of domestic shipbuilding. A number of contracts are successfully implemented at the shipyard for domestic and foreign customers.
