Medium size seagoing tanker Iman of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has been placed at the western dry dock of Ship Repair Center Zvezdochka in Sevastopol (USC), the shipyard’s press center says. The scheduled repair is to be executed in cooperation with the specialists of FSUE 13th Ship Repair Yard of BSF.
Tanker Iman of Project 6404 was built for the auxiliary fleet of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in 1966 and arrived in Sevastopol the same year.
Vessel’s characteristics: displacement – 6,440 t, length – 105.4 m, width – 14.8 m, draught – 6.2 m, speed max -14 knots, propulsion diesel engine Burmeister&Wain, 2900 h.p., 1 screw, capacity – fuel tank for 1,500 t, 500 t of diesel fuel, 150 t of lubricants, 500 t of water, 50 t of food, crew - 52.
A subsidiary of Zvezdochka Ship Repair Centre in Sevastopol in December 2015 obtained a license of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to perform the repair of surface ships and submarines.
Sevastopol Marine Plant named after S. Ordzhonikidze (Sevmorzavod) was founded in 1783. The Government of Sevastopol and the United Shipbuilding Corporation on March 30, 2015 signed a Memorandum of Agreement for cooperation to revive the company. The branch of Zvezdochka Shipyard operates in Sevastopol specializing in shipbuilding, ship repair, in manufacture of onboard equipment / machinery and metal fabrication.
