Oil, LPG throughput at Tamanneftegas terminal jumped 35% in 2015 to 8.5 million tonnes

Handling of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the Taman transshipment facility of OTEKO Group (operator - JSC Tamanneftegas) for the period January - December 2015 totaled 8.5 million tonnes, or a 35% gain year-on-year, the Group said Thursday.

Last year OTEKO Group started shipments of light products (naphtha). The major volume of products was planned and transshipped in November and December 2015 reaching 212,500 tonnes. The company plans to gradually boost shipments of naphtha, increasing its monthly volume in 2017 to 350,000 tonnes.

Handling of vacuum gas oil in the reporting period soared by as much as 22 times year-on-year and hit 2,88 million tonnes mark.

In 2015 LPG volumes also doubled to 510,000 tonnes. Volumes handled at Taman based oil, products and LPG export terminal account for 7.7% of Russia's total exports of LPG.

"Simultaneously with the development of our transshipment complex of oil and LPG, we are investing our money in projects for construction of bulk cargo terminal with total capacity of 35 million tonnes, and the grain terminal of 14.5 million tonnes capacity. This will help solve the shortage of transshipment facilities in Russia's southern region and give impetus to the development of the entire Krasnodar region. The first cargo shipment at the bulk terminal is slated for 2017, and at the grain terminal for 2018," said General Director of OTEKO Sergei Gubinets.

JSC Tamanneftegas is operator of Taman Transshipment Complex for export oil, products and LPG. The facility in the port of Taman is one of the most promising projects in Russia. The port is located in the deep non-freezing part of the Black Sea coast at the entrance to the Sea of Azov. Terminals of Tamanneftegas were commissioned in 2012. To date, the complex handled over 20 million tonnes. Port of Taman is one of the few infrastructure projects in the South of Russia, which is receiving large 160,000dwt vessels.

The group of companies United Freight Forwarding Company (OTEKO Group) is the largest private investor in port infrastructure in southern Russia. Since 2000 OTEKO Group has implemened a comprehensive investment program for the construction of terminal facilities in the port of Taman. The Group has already built and launched a facility for export of liquefied petroleum gas, oil and oil products with capacity of 20 million tonnes a year. In line with the investment program, the company will build in Taman a terminal for handling coal, iron ore, sulfur and fertilizers of annual capacity of 35 million tonnes, and a complex for shipment of export grain with capacity of 14.5 million tonnes per year. OTEKO Group owns and operates a depot of 15,000 oil tanks, a fleet of mainline and shunting locomotives. It has its own railcar repair company located in Ryazan, one of the largest in Russia.
