Goliath-type crane installed by Jiangnan Shipyard Group for construction of Chinese aircraft carrier (photo)

Goliath-type crane has been installed by Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. in China, crane manufacture ZPMC told IAA PortNews. The crane of 1,600 t in capacity with a span exceeding 150 m is the largest crane in China in terms of lifting capacity and the height of lift.

The event speaks to the readiness of Chinese shipbuilders to embark on building of 100,000 DWT aircraft carrier. Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. purchased the crane in the first half of 2015. 

Modern aircraft carriers are built of large blocks. Goliath-type cranes are used for assembling of such large-size blocks. Such cranes are also used by the shipyards of the leading western countries, some 80%  of their market is covered by ZPMC products.
