Production of ice-resistant platform Prirazlomanaya (Prirazlomnoye oilfield, Pechora Sea) exceeded 800,000 t in 2015, which is 2.5 times more than in 2014, says press center of Gazprom Neft Shelf LLC.
Over 1.1 mln t of oil product were shipped from Prirazlomnoye oilfield in 2014–2015.
Two production and one injection well currently operate at Prirazlomnoye oilfield.
According to Gennady Lyubin, Gazprom Neft Shelf LLC Director General, oil shipments will at least double in 2016 .
The Prirazlomnoye oilfield (with recoverable reserves estimated at more than 70 million tonnes) is located in the Pechora Sea, 60 kilometres from the shore. Field development has required the construction of a unique ice-resistant platform, designed and constructed in Russia. The platform is anchored to the seabed, and designed for use in the most extreme climatic conditions, as well as being able to withstand maximum ice-loads.
With its platform walls some three metres thick, the drilling of wells within this will ensure full isolation from the surrounding environment. A “zero emissions” system has been integrated into the platform to prevent the discharge of any production or drilling waste into the sea.
The Prirazlomnoye field is currently the only field on the Russian Arctic Shelf already under development. Drilling started in summer 2013, production commenced in December 2013. April 2014 saw a new kind of Russian-produced oil — Arctic Oil (ARCO) — despatched from the field the first time.
