Oil transshipment via storage tanker Umba (Murmansk) nears 1 mln t

Oil transshipment via storage tanker Umba (Murmansk) nears 1 mln t from its deployment in January 2016, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Dmitry Sosnin, Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of the Murmansk Region, as saying at the 6th international conference “Logistics in the Arctic” in Murmansk.

The VLCC Umba is an offshore oil transshipment facility of some 300,000 t in capacity able to accommodate the simultaneous berthing of vessels on both sides. Its on-board infrastructure makes possible the intake, storage and transshipment of oil, and its full and timely customs and border clearance, as well as bunkering operations for shuttle-tankers and transporters. The Umba has been fully refurbished to meet the climatic conditions of the Arctic Circle.
