Preparations have been commenced for the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016, the organizers told IAA PortNews. The Regatta will be arranged in a similar way to the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014.
In 2014, SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta was held under the flag of Russia for the first time in its history. The largest Tall Ships of the world including Mir, Kruzenshtern, Sedov and Nadezhda Tall Ships of Russia twice crossed the Black Sea and visit four ports: Varna, Novorossiysk, Sochi and Constanta. Russian cities had held large-scale works on the port area development and had prepared interesting programmes for both the guests and participants of the Regatta, as well as for the citizens.
22 training tall ships (including 9 A class vessels) from 9 countries worldwide participated in the Regatta.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to participants of Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014.
The International BlackSea Tall Ships Regatta 2016 will be held from September 8 till October 4 in the Black Sea. The Regatta will start in Constanta (Romania). The first race Constanta – Novorossiysk will take place on September 11-16. The Programme will then include the Novorossiysk phase (September 16-19), Novorossiysk-Sochi voyage (September 19-21), Sochi phase (September 21-25), Sochi-Varna race (September 25 – October 1) with the finish and closing of the Regatta scheduled for October 1-4.
