    Throughput of Russian seaports up 5.9% to 286.3 mln t in Jan-May'16

    In January-May 2016, Russian seaports handled 286.3 mln t of cargo (+5.9%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

    Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 129.4 mln t (+11.6%) including 52.1 mln t of coal (+10.5%), 17.1 mln t of containerized cargo (+4.2%), 12.2 mln t of ferrous metal (+6.7%), 11.3 mln t of grain (+45.6%), 8.9 mln t of cargo carried by ferries  (+21.6%), 7.0 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+8.1%), 3.7 mln t of ore (up 1.6 times), 2.4 mln t of timber (+7.6%), 1.6 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+3.3%) and 1.3 mln t of reefer cargo (+5.8%). Transshipment of metal scrap declined to 1.7 mln t (-2.1%). 

    Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 1.5% to 156.9 mln t including 93.2 mln t of crude oil (+9.1%), 56.6 mln t of oil products (-8.6%) and 5.6 mln t of liquefied gas (-2.3%). 

    Transshipment of export cargo totaled 231.4 mln t (+5.9%), import - 12.8 mln t (-4.5%), transit - 20.5 mln t (+1.9%), coastal trade cargo – 21.6 mln t (+16.9%).

    Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 17.5 mln t of cargo (+23.4%, year-on-year) including 10.6 mln t of dry cargo (+11.6%) and 6.9 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+47.1%). The port of Murmansk handled 11.6 mln t (+32.3%), Varandei - 3.3 mln t (+22.8%). 

    The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 97.4 mln t (+2.3%) including 35.9 mln t of dry cargo (+1.4%) and 61.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+2.8%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 37.7 mln t (+4.4%), Primorsk - 27.4 mln t (+11.9%), Big Port St. Petersburg - 20.0 mln t (-8.1%), Kaliningrad - 5.2 mln t (-2.7%). 

    Throughput of Azov - Black Sea ports climbed to 94.1 mln t (+5.1%) including 38.2 mln t of dry cargo (+19.8%) and 55.9 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-3.1%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 55.2 mln t (+2.3%), Kavkaz - 9.0 mln t (+4.4%), Taman - 5.2 mln t (+14.0%), Rostov-on-Don - 4.5 mln t (+33.4%), Kerch - 3.3 mln t (+40.6%), Azov - 2.3 mln t (+25.4%), Yeisk - 1.4 mln t (+19.0%), Tuapse - 10.4 mln t (-2.1%), Temryuk - 1.0 mln t (-17.6%). 

    The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 2.6 mln t of cargo (-14.6%) including 1.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-22.0%) and 1.3 mln t of dry cargo (-5.8%). The port of Makhachkala handled 1.4 mln t (-18.9%), Astrakhan - 1.1 mln t (-6.0%), Olya – down 30.4%. 

    The ports of Far East Basin handled 74.7 mln t (+9.2%) including 43.3 mln t of dry cargo (+15.0%) and 31.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+2.2%). Port Vostochny handled 27.4 mln t (+2.8%), Vanino - 12.5 mln t (+15.0%), Nakhodka - 9.7 mln t (+16.9%), Vladivostok - 5.7 mln t (+15.0%), De-Castri – 5.2 mln t (+23.4%), Posiet –3.4 mln t (+35.9%), Prigorodnoye – 6.9 mln t (-2.9%). 
    Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
