Moscow State Academy of Water Transport merges into Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping

Moscow State Academy of Water Transport has been reorganized and merged into Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, says press center of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot).

The decision was made on June 9, 2016, at the meeting of the dedicated commission of Rosmorrechflot.

The history of the Academy dates back to 1980 when Moscow Institute of the Engineers of Water Transport was founded. Moscow State Academy of Water Transport was officially established in 1989 in the result of merging the Moscow Institute of the Engineers of Water Transport, the Moscow River College and secondary vocational (shipping) school No 202. Today the Academy is a large educational and scientific complex which structurally consists of 27 departments of 5 faculties and a college.

Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping was set up through reorganization of two large industry-focused higher educational institutions - St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications (SPSUWC) and Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (SMA) in the form of affiliation of the Academy to the University.
