Dry cargo vessel ZHIBEK ZHOLY built for KTZ Express Shipping launched at Nevsky Shipyard (photo)
On the 12th of July 2016 a solemn ceremony of launching of the single-deck dry cargo vessel of mixed “river-sea” navigation RSD49 project “ZHIBEK ZHOLY”, was held on the slip of Nevsky Shipyard, IAA PortNews correspondent reports.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Transport Minister of Russia, head of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency Victor Olersky, Director General of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Konstantin Palnikov, President of National Company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” Askar Mamin, President of JSC “KTZ Express” Dias Iskakov, President of JSC “Aktau International Commercial Sea Port” Makhail Yalbachev, Director General of LLC “KTZ Express Shipping” Sabyrbek Adilgereyev, representatives of ministries and departments of Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region, the client company representatives, and other officials.
The project was developed by CJSC “Marine engineering Bureau-design-SPb”.
The series vessel features a 52-m-long middle cargo hold for shipping oversized project cargo on direct Europe-Caspian Sea line. This should make the vessel operation cost-effective.

The Volga-Don Max vessels of mixed river-sea sailing are designed for transportation of general and bulk cargoes, including steel, grain, timber, coal, oversized and heavy-lift and dangerous cargoes of classes 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 by IC IMDG and Annex B of the BC Code in the Caspian Sea and the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Baltic, White and North seas, including sailings around Europe and in the Irish Sea during winter season.

Nevsky Shipyard, LLC is located 40 km away from Saint-Petersburg in the town of Schliesselburg on the left bank of the river Neva. The Shipyard is one of the oldest enterprises of water transport in the northwest of Russia which started its shipbuilding activity since 1952. Nowadays the Shipyard builds sea and river vessels of various types and purposes and carries out all kinds of ship repair works. The slipway for vessels rising allows to launch and lift for repairs the vessels up to 150 meters long and dock weight up to 3,800 tons.
