Karelia's Onezhsky Shipyard launches ice-class workboat Bata for Rosmorport (photo release)

Petrozavodsk, Karelia based Onezhsky Shipbuilding Ship Repair Yard (Onezhsky Shipyard) on August 17, 2016 launched the “BATA”, an ice-class workboat being built for Rosmorport, the Petrozavodsk city district press office said.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia Vyacheslav Bayev, Head of Petrozavodsk Irina Miroschnik and General Director of Onezhsky Shipyard Vladimir Mayzus.

The multi-task workboat BATA was ordered for the Azov-Black Sea Basin branch of FSUE Rosmorport. The workboat will be homeported at the Port Kavkaz. The vessel was designed for fast crew / families supply to large ships, for cargo transport of up to 0.5 tonnes. The vessel can be operated as a pilot boat.

Onezhsky Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Yard was founded in 2002 on the basis of shiprepair facilities of the Belomorsky-Onezhsky Shipping Company, formed in 1944. In 2011, after the enterprise management dismissal the production stopped, and the company went bankrupt. In late 2014 the enterprise was transferred to the state ownership and resumed its shipbuilding / repair activity.
