Krasnoyarsk shipyard launches bunkering tanker for Norilsk Nickel (photo)

Krasnoyarsk shipyard (subsidiary of Yenisei River Shipping Company) has launched self-propelled bunkering tanker ordered by Norilsk Nickel, says press center of YRSC.

According to the statement, Krasnoyarsk shipyard has never built vessels of this class before. The ship’s length is about 70 m, breadth – 12.6 m, depth – 4.8 m, deadweight – about 1,200 t. Apart from the tanks the vessel has two holds capable to accommodate 200 barrels with lubricants. This ice-lass vessel can sail in the ice of up to 40 cm thick.

The tanker designed by Novgorod based design bureau Vympel meets the requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping including those on environmental safety. The ship features an enhanced protection from oil spills.

The tanker named Vladimir Matveyev will operate at port Dudinka. It is currently on the way to the place of deployment.

Krasnoyarsk shipyard OJSC specializes in construction of shallow-draft vessels for small rivers. Throughout its 75-year history the shipyard has built some 3,000 vessels – tugboats, passenger and cargo ships, tankers, barges and pontoons.

Yenisei River Shipping Company was established as a state enterprise in 1931, incorporated in 1994 году. YRSC is the main carrier of cargo along the water routes of the Yenisei Basin. The company’s fleet numbers some 650 vessels with total capacity of about 680,000 t. The company has shipbuilding and ship repair assets and a number of other business units. Major customer and the controlling shareholder of the company is Norilsk Nickel OJSC.
