On September 29, 2016, Okskaya Shipyard (part of UCL Holding) commenced sea trials of firefighting tugboat Penai, Project TG-17, built for Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency), the shipyard says in a press release.
The vessel is intended for towing of vessels and floating facilities in marine conditions; participation in oil spill response operations as an auxiliary transport for delivery of dedicated equipment and for installation of booms; assistance in firefighting operations at floating and coastal facilities for transportation of general cargo on the deck with loading/unloading of cargo by port facilities or onboard crane.
The contract for construction of the firefighting tugboat TG-17 designed by Marine Engineering Bureau LLC was signed on April 8, 2015. The vessel was launched on 9 September 2016.
